Veteran's Court

The Forensic Diversion Drug Court Program is a program designed to provide a low –cost alternative to incarceration for non-violent offenders who have mental illness and/or an addictions disorder. In an effort to reduce the criminal activity with these offenders, Drug Court participants will be required to participate in treatment for their illness and/or addictions disorder, report regularly to their Case Manager, report weekly to Drug Court, provide random drug screens, and attend support meetings. Drug Court participants are also encouraged to seek and maintain employment or enroll in education programs in effort to maintain a sober lifestyle within the community.

Veteran's Court is a pre-conviction and post-conviction program governed through the Forensic Diversion Statute and operated by the Drug Court. Adult participants are given an executed sentence to the Indiana Department of Correction which is suspended pending successful completion of the Veteran's Court or participants are placed in the court through a pre-conviction agreement with the Prosecutor. Participants are in the program for 3 years wtih a case review at 18 months for possible early completion.
